Summation

OsGIGANTEA (OsGI) is a circadian regulator and the unique ortholog of the Arabidopsis GI. Loss of OsGI function leads to multiple physiological and morphological changes in rice, including increased panicle length and spikelet numbers rice. In particular, the PROG1 transcription factor (an important regulator of shoot gravitropism) activates the expression of OsG1 to regulate panicle architecture (Wang et al., 2023).
