Summation

Rice BRXL1, and BRXL4 are members of the plant specific Brevis Radix (BRX) family. These genes act redundantly in regulation of shoot gravitropism generating the rice tiller angle. Their downregulation results in a compact plant phenotype. BRXLs interact with LAZY1 in the plasma membrane and then help in nuclear localization of LAZY1 that is essential for regulating shoot gravitropism in rice. The third gene OsBRXL5 refered in the the paper is short and likely has annotation problems in RAP and MSU, thus not included in this defined set.
