| text | Rice grassy tiller1 (OsGT1)/OsHox12 suppress tillering and works in dowstream of strigolactones (SL) signaling . SL hormones inhibit shoot branching and the outgrowth of axillary buds in rice (Jiang et al., 2013; Zhou et al., 2013). OsGT1 transcription is directly activated by the OsTB1 TF and OsTB1 transcription is positively regulated by IDEAL PLANT ARCHITECTURE 1 (IPA1) (Song et al., 2017, and Ishizaki et al., 2023; PMID: 36737003). Thus, IPA1, OsTB1, and OsGT1 work in downstream of SL signaling. OsGT1 is likely to regulate genes such as 9-CIS-EPOXYCAROTENOID DIOXYGENASE 1 (OsNCED1) that encode abscisic acid (ABA) biosynthesis enzymes, which are involved in axillary bud dormancy and hence suppression of axillary bud outgrowth in rice (Ishizaki et al., 2023; PMID: 36737003). The expression of HOX12 also occurs during rice seed germination and coleoptile elongation that is contolled by various transcription factors including OSH1, OSH15, OSH71, SUB1B, OSNAC1, ZFP36, and OsERF25/29/32/66/67/103 (Naithani et al., 2023). |
