text LEAF and TILLER ANGLE INCREASED CONTROLLER (OsLIC/C3H46), a transcriptional activator, mediates optimal plant architecture by negatively regulating brassinosteroid (BR) signaling. LIC acts as an antagonistic transcription factor of BRASSINAZOLE-RESISTANT 1 (BZR1) to attenuate the BR signaling pathway. LIC negatively regulates leaf bending, as plants over-expressing LIC show erect leaves, and in transgenic plants, silencing of LIC results in increased leaf and tiller angles. OsLIC has been shown to bind to the specific DNA sequence 5'-CTCGC-3' of the BZR1 promoter and negatively regulates BZR1. Also, OsLIC directly represses ILI1 expression (Wang et al., 2008, Zhang et al., 2012).
