Os12g0204500 (OsGXM) is not functionally characterized, but its barley ortholog HORVU.MOREX.r3.7HG0749870.1 encodes Glucuronoxylan 4-O-methyltransferase (GXM) localized to the cytoplasm and the nucleus (Guo et at., 2023; PMID: 36604847). The Barley GXM gene shows differential transcription in response to gravistimulation, and in transgenic barley plants containing egt2 mutation. GXM protein has been shown to interact with EGT2 in Bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFc) and yeast two-hybrid assay (Guo et at., 2023; PMID: 36604847).
