text Rice gene Os08g0157500 encodes O-methyltransferase (OMT) and has not been characterized. However, its barley homolog HvOMT (encoded by HORVU.MOREX.r3.3HG0330120.1) is experimentally shown to be localized in the cytoplasm and the nucleus (Guo et at., 2023; PMID: 36604847). HvOMT gene shows differential transcription in response to gravistimulation, and in transgenic barley plants containing egt2 mutation. HvOMT protein has been shown to interact with HvEGT2 in Bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFc) and yeast two-hybrid assay (Guo et at., 2023; PMID: 36604847). HvOMT interaction with HvEGT2 was observed in the nucleus and in the cytoplasm.
