text The promoter of the LAZY1 gene has binding sites for the nine transcription factors, which also show a positive correlation at the transcriptional level with LAZY1 during rice seed germination and coleoptile growth under submergence (Naithani et al., 2023). Thus, LAZY1 is a likely target of transcription factors OSH1, OSNAC1, NAC77, ZFP36, OSTCP18, OSPCF8, OSERF25, OSERF29 and OSERF32 during seed germination stage. In contrast, LAZY1 has no binding site in the promoter region of the nine TFs listed above. Thus, it is clear that LAZY1 is regulated by the TF, such as OSHI1, involved in the early development and growth of germinating seedlings; and by the TFs of ERF and NAC, family involved in the submergence stress response. In the later stage of plant development, the PROG1 represses the transcription of the LAZY1 gene (Wang et al., 2023).
