text Rolled Fine Striped (RFS), a key gene affecting rice leaf rolling and leaf width. RFS acts as epigenetic regulator affecting histone modification in promoter region of various genes. The RFS transcripts expresse abundantly in developing leaf blades and leaf sheaths, at low levels in shoot bases, and at moderate levels in roots and flowers (Cho et al., 2018). RFS affects modification of histone proteins that directly bind to ROS-related genes to maintain ROS homeostasis. chromatin remodeling by RFS plays an important role in epigenetic regulation of ROS-related genes and plant morphogenesis. Loss of function of RFS reduces the trimethylation of histone H3K4 in the ROS-related genes, leaf width and the number of leaf veins, alters the size and shape of bulliform cells and leads multiple developmental defects (Cho et al., 2018).
