text OsPho1 has catalytic efficiency toward both linear and branched alpha-glucans. Pho1 activity is strongly inhibited by its own reaction product (Pi) in the synthesis reaction when amylopectin is the primer substrate, but this inhibition is less pronounced when short alpha-glucan chains are used as primer substrate (Hwang et al., 2010). The loss of function of OsPho1 caused smaller starch granules and modified amylopectin structure (Satoh et al., 2008).
