schemaClass Summation
text GPA3 functions as an adaptor protein to recruit VPS9a (Rab5a-GEF) and facilitate the interaction between Rab5a and VPS9a on the trans-Golgi network and Golgi-derived dense vesicles (DVs), which is required for proper membrane fusion and/or directional targeting of DVs to the protein storage vacuoles (Ren et al., 2014). According to genetic interaction studies, GPA3, Rab5a, and VPS9a acted in a synergistic manner to regulate the DV-mediated post-Golgi trafficking of storage proteins to protein storage vacuoles (Ren et al., 2014).
