text Synergism between RPBF and RISBZ1 is important for regulation of normal aleurone layer formation in rice endosperm. In seeds of RISBZ1/RPBF double mutant plants, the aleurone layers is composed of abnormal supernumerary layer cells and highly reduced expression of OsCR4 and OsADL1 was observed (Kawakatsu et al., 2009). Mutual interaction between RPBF and RISBZ1 recognize the GCN4 motif in OsCR4, OsADL1 and many other storage protein genes. Overexpression of both transcription factors gave rise to much higher levels of expression than the sum of individual activities elicited by either RPBF or RISBZ1 alone. Mutation of recognition sites in promoter region suppress reciprocal trans-activation ability of both the transcription factors (Yamamoto et al., 2006).
