Salicylic acid (SA) is a small phenolic compound that could act as a phytohomone and/or a signaling molecule that effect plant immunity, specifically Systemic Acquire Resistance (SAR). Constitutive accumulation of SA is toxic to the plant and therefore biosynthesis and SA mediated regulation tightly controlled. The details of perception and signaling of SA signaling in Oryza sativa is being unraveled and several models are suggested. Here we depict multiple potential perception and signaling models which would be revised as more information become available.
