text In the arginine biosynthesis II (acetyl cycle), which occurs in all eukaryotic/prokaryotic organisms investigated thus far, the acetyl group from acetyl CoA is transfered to L-glutamate to form N-acetyl glutamate and the acetyl group from N-acetyl ornithine is recycled into glutamate regenerating N-acetyl glutamate. Both these reactions are catalyzed by the bifunctional aminoacid N-acetyl transferase.
