text The cytosolic pyrophosphate-dependent phosphofructokinase complex catalyzes the reversible reaction of D-fructose-6-phosphate and pyrophosphate to form D-fructose 1,6-bisphosphate and orthophosphate. The rice enzyme complex has not been characterized experimentally. Its composition and activity have been inferred from those of the more extensively studied orthologous Arabidopsis thaliana proteins (Mustroph et al. 2007).
