Summation

The dominant mechanism of flap cleavage requires Flap Endonuclease1 (FEN1) to cleave the 5' flap structure and DNA ligase to seal the nick. Other models of Okazaki fragment maturation require DNA2 and/or RNASE H in addition to FEN1 for efficient processing of the flap structure (Schultz et al., 2007).
