Summation

Several genes and QTLs have been identified that regulate root elongation (Meng et al., 2019). OsERF2 transcriptionally controls the accumulation of sucrose and UDPG, which might further trigger the complex alteration of carbohydrate metabolism and multiple signaling pathways, and partially account for the effect of OsERF2 on rice root growth. OsERF2 negatively regulates expression of candidate genes including ARF1, MKK4/5, MPK3/6 and PIN1b/2/9, which are involved in root growth and development through mediating auxin and cytokinin signaling (Xiao et al., 2016).
