OsERF2 is required for the control of root architecture as it negatively regulates primary root growth. Gain of function mutant of OsERF2 showed short primary roots compared with the wild type, while in artificial microRNA mediated silenced lines of OsERF2 primary roots were longer than those of WT (Xiao et al., 2015).
