OsMGT1 is plasma membrane localized transporter for Mg in rice and up-regulation of this transporter gene is required for conferring Al tolerance by increasing Mg uptake into the cells. Upregulation of OsMGT1 is a component of high Al tolerance in rice (Chen et al., 2012).
