Summation

OsDpe1 plays an active role in starch synthesis and in starch granule formation in developing rice endosperm (Dong et al., 2015). DPE1 participates substantially in starch synthesis in rice endosperm by transferring maltooligosyl groups from amylose and amylopectin to amylopectin. Repression or overexpression of the OsDpe1 significantly altered the size, morphology and crystallinity of starch granules in rice seeds (Dong et al., 2015).
