Summation

OsNIP2;1 (Lsi1, a silicon influx transporter), NIP subfamily aquaporin, is permeable to arsenite but not to arsenate in rice. Mutation in OsNIP2;1 significantly decreases the uptake of methylated arsenic species, e.g.; monomethylarsonic acid (MMA(V)) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA(V)), respectively.
