Summation

Tricin is a flavonoid monomer involved in lignification in monocots (Lan et al., 2015). Tricin act as multifunctional nutraceutical because of its antioxidant (Duarte-Almeida et al., 2007), anticancer (Cai et al., 2007), anti-inflammatory (Shalini et al., 2012), and cardiovascular-protective (Chang et al., 2010) properties. Tricin accumulates mainly in vegetative tissues (leaves and stem; Zhou and Ibrahim, 2010), grain bran, and husk (Moheb et al., 2013). Tricin and its O-glycosides functions as allelopathic compounds in rice, interfering with weeds and harmful microorganisms in paddy soil (Kong et al., 2004, 2007).
