Early heading date 1 (Ehd1) promotes the expression of Hd3a and RFT1 under SD and LD conditions. As the key regulator of rice heading, the expression of Ehd1 is regulated by multiple genes. For instance, Ehd1 expression is promoted by OsMADS50 and OsMADS51 (Kim et al., 2007; Ryu et al., 2009), RIDI/Ehd2/OsID1 (Matsubara et al., 2008; Park et al., 2008; Wu et al., 2008), Ehd3 (Matsubara et al., 2011), Ehd4 (Gao et al., 2013), OsELF3-1 (Yang et al., 2013), and OsVIL2 (Wang et al., 2013a).
