Summation

In rice roots, SCR (SCARECROW) is involved in establishing the polarization of the cytoplasm in the cortex/endodermal initial and provides a signal to a cortex/endodermal initial to divide asymmetrically. SCR is essential for the asymmetric division of the cortex/endodermis progenitor cell under the control of the SHR function, but it is not associated with cell identification. OsSCR expression was observed in the endodermal cell layer and downregulated in the daughter cortex cell after asymmetric division.
