Summation

OsbZIP72 Transcription Factor is a positive regulator of ABA response and drought tolerance in rice. OsbZIP72 is expressed moderately in the shoot, seed, root, leaf, plant egg cell, and plant embryo and its expession is induced in response to ABA and drought stress.Transgenic rice overexpressing OsbZIP72 show a hypersensitivity to ABA, upregulation of ABA response gene such as LEAs, and an enhanced ability of drought tolerance (PMID: 19048288). OsNAC2 RNAi lines show enhanced expression of OsbZIP72 and thus, it is down-regulated by OsNAC2 (PMID: 28074873). It interacts with SAPK8 and SAPK9.
