Summation

Plastid ATP-dependent phosphofructokinase catalyzes the physiologically irreversible reaction of D-fructose-6-phosphate and ATP to form D-fructose 1,6-bisphosphate and ADP. No rice enzyme with these properties has been characterized biochemically, but Os08g0345700 has been identified as a candidate plastid phosphofructokinase on the basis of its sequence similarity to the Arabidopsis thaliana PFK4 enzyme (Mustroph et al. 2007).
