Summation

Cytosolic S-adenosyl methionine synthetase catalyzes the reaction of ATP, L-methionine, and H2O to form phosphate, diphosphate, and S-adenosyl-L-methionine.

Converts L-methionine into S-adenosyl-L-methionine.

SAMS or S-adenosyl methionine synthetase (same as Methionine adenosyl transferase), catalyzes the conversion of L-methinine and ATP to S-adenosyl-L-methionine. The overall synthetic reaction is composed of two sequential steps, AdoMet formation and the subsequent tripolyphosphate hydrolysis which occurs prior to release of AdoMet from the enzyme.
