Summation

OsCSLD1 gene is required for root hair development, as rice mutants that lack OsCSLD1 function develop abnormal root hairs. OsCSLD1 function is required for root hair elongation but not initiation. OsCSLD1 express in only root hair cells and is the only member of the four rice CSLD genes that shows root-specific expression (Kim et al., 2007).

Beta 1-4 addition of D-glucose residues to a beta 1-4 glucan chain to produce Cellulose (a beta 1-4 linked glucan chain with 500 to 14,000 monomers)
